Lady Gaga continues to speak out about Kesha and her current battle against her alleged rapist Dr. Luke.
In an interview with Carson Daly on AMP Radio 97.1, Gaga said that people should be aware that there is so much more than what meets the eye in a case like Kesha’s.
She added: “I feel like she’s being publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men.”
Gaga revealed in the same interview that she talks to the 28-year-old “Tik Tok” singer, whose real name is every day, saying that she is friends with her personally. “…What I’m watching her go through is not only something I’ve been through but something that’s really devastating to witness,” she said.
“Somebody that has such a beautiful light within them, so much talent to give — just to see that light burn out because they feel that no one’s listening to them, I feel that it’s my responsibility to stand up for her when there’s a lot of people that are not listening to her plea for love, for people to have compassion and empathy.”
Kesha’s legal battle with Dr. Luke continues. Last month, a Manhattan judge ruled that she must continue with her six-album deal with Sony, and keep working with the alleged rapist.
Dr. Luke continues to deny all allegations, saying that Kesha is doing all of this for money. He was never criminally charged.
“Dr. Luke has been tyrannical and abusive since our relationship began,” said Kesha in an August 2015 affidavit. “I specifically remember him telling me that if I ever tried to get away from him for any reason that he would tie me up in litigation until my career was over,” she added.
